Do you think this whole quest I am on is mad or hubristic, as several close to me have suggested? Is there something wonky with my thinking? And if so, what?
As I planned this trip, my daughter Cat (doing a shoot for Ermano Scervino) sprung her own surprise. ‘I think I have ADHD,’ she said, ‘and so do you. We’re the same. We can’t plan, we’re chronically late, and we either don’t concentrate, or we get Hyperfocus.’
I didn’t know if she was right, but definitely I found the hardest, most stressful element of this trip, was the planning of it. I kept getting distracted or disheartened as the doubts and questions seem to flurry in my head like piranhas. But where will you plant trees? And which trees? And where?

So all these things were in my mind when, one evening in my third week in Colombia, I arrived again in Minca, which is a cool, small town of bars and shops and stalls advertising bird-watching and waterfalls and a Trek To The Lost City.
